What colours are in for this season?
Now that spring is officially here, we can all look forward to more sun and the fresh, vibrant colours that come with the new season.
While men tend to gravitate to basic flattering colours such as greys, blacks, navies and whites, it is time this spring to add a splash of colour to your outfit.
Many of the fashion houses tend to conform to this standard, as these are commonly accepted as traditional colours for business attire. It is generally easier many busy executives to manage a grey and black wardrobe that does not require a lot of creativity. But, for those who have the inclination to experiment beyond simple greys and blacks and would like to be considered amongst the most stylish and up-to-date, there are several options to add greater variety of colour and style, while still maintaining a professional appearance.
Be on the look out for a colour named “Coffee Liquor”. This shade of brown is the shade you will see heavily in menswear and in men’s suits this season. Blue makes an appearance in casual, formal and beachwear as its versatility allows it to be utilized in a variety of ways. Beige was the biggest hit shared between men and women on the runway this year, so you can expect to see it quite a bit. This is the subtle and more blushy take on the pinks men like to wear, but since pink is now more widely accepted, spring will test the waters with violet as well.
Generally one would not expect to think of Vivienne Westwood, however this season, they are now offering many stylish suits for anyone who wants to break the mould. This season’s collection colors are kept light and breezy with pastels dominating the palette. Salmon, cream, and sky blues are used in various combinations. These are worn together as a suit and shirt ensemble.
Bear in mind that the cotton suits now available are more sophisticated, making them better suited for the office (business casual) or an evening out. If you want to keep it more conservative but sleek, a long sleeved dress shirt or sport shirt combined with a cotton blazer or sport coat can look fantastic with a well-fit pair of jeans. Opt for linen and cotton over polyester. Cotton (and linen, especially) you’ll find are much more breathable in the warmer weather.
